Music in Keble College Chapel

The Chapel is the main focal point for College music throughout the year, primarily by Keble College Chapel Choir, but also in regular concerts, organ recitals and the annual Keble Early Music Festival which takes place each in February. The mixed choir is made up of approximately twenty-four voices, including eighteen choral scholars and two organ scholars. We regularly tour, broadcast, perform concerts and record. This past academic year has seen trips to France, the Czech Republic and Hong Kong/Singapore. As well as a large-scale recording of the music of William Hayes (1708-1777) with period instruments, we also have two BBC Radio 3 Choral Evensong broadcasts scheduled for Michaelmas Term 2017 (live and recorded).

Orgconsole1

The Chapel Organ is a 4-manual Tickell instrument built in 2011. Recently tonally remodelled by Francesco Ruffatti and Fabrizio Scolaro, it has 43 speaking stops, mechanical key action and electric stop action, and is one of the finest and most versatile instruments in the UK.
We also have a 4-stop chamber organ built in 1998 by Richard Moore. There is a regular series of organ concerts during term on Thursday evenings at 8.30pm before Sung Compline.
