Harris Society Dinner Celebrates Endowment of Law Fellowship

Wednesday 08 October 2014

The Harris Society Dinner was held in College on Friday 3rd October. The 4th gathering of Keble law alumni and current law students was hosted by the President of the Harris Society - Andrew Hall (2012). The Warden gave a special welcome to Professor Jose Harris, widow of celebrated law tutor Professor Jim Harris. The dinner was a fitting celebration of the completion of our campaign to endow the senior Law Fellowship, currently held by Professor Edwin Peel. The Clarendon Harris Law Fellowship, named in memory of Jim Harris, has been secured by donations and pledges from 56 alumni and friends totalling £1.2million. This sum has been augmented by £800,000 from the University’s Clarendon Teaching Fund to reach the target of £2million required to endow the post in perpetuity. Dr James Goudkamp joined the College in 2013 and Law is once again a two-fellow subject at Keble. The endowment will enable us to continue to provide outstanding tutorial teaching and maintain the wonderful track record of success in this subject. The College would like to thank all those who have contributed to the fund for their generous support.
