Keble wins dancesport cuppers

Wednesday 30 May 2007

Our A-team won the competition, finishing highest out of thirty-five teams, while our B-team was the top B- team and ninth overall. Our C-team was thirteenth and had done so well that the only B-team above it was our own, and the D-team, who were mostly trained from scratch in the fortnight before Cuppers, worked very hard to finish twenty-fourth, with no D-teams and only two C-teams including our own above. Keble also won the cup awarded this year for the first time for the best overall college with 157 points, while ourĀ  nearest rival, Magdalen, had 92. Individual success was also achieved by Dave Cole and Zoe Wright, who were placed second in the waltz, Sarah Bond and Helen Pearce, who were third in the cha-cha-cha, Paul Dwyer and Sam Roberts, who won the quickstep, and Ben Lay and Emma Hayes who came fourth in the same dance. Medals were also awarded to semi-finalists, including Keble dancers Helen Knight and Danielle Sullivan in the jive and James Lillington and Suzannah Merchant in the waltz. Special mention ought also be made of Ed Stock who has been President of the club this year, as well as Holly Seal and our coach, Bruce Richardson.
