Professor Richard Darton awarded EFCE Honorary Membership

Thursday 05 October 2017

Keble Emeritus Professor of Engineering Science Richard Darton has been awarded a Honorary Membership by the European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE). The award was conferred during the 10th EFCE World Congress in Barcelona on 2 October, and is the highest distinction given by the Federation. It is awarded only infrequently and to individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the life and welfare of the EFCE over an extended period of time.

Darton was president of the EFCE from 2010-2013, and also spent many years as member and chair of the member and chairman of the Working Party on Fluid Separations and a member of the Section on Sustainability. A former president of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (2008-2009), EFCE particularly recognises his role in the development of fluid separations, education and sustainability across Europe through his commitment to the Federation, the development of the discipline, and his contribution to international friendship and understanding.
