Retail Conference Celebrates 70 Years at the College

Tuesday 07 August 2018

In 1948, the Drapers Chamber of Trade Summer School arrived at Keble. When they return this summer, the organisers of what is now known as the Oxford Summer School (OSS) Academy, will celebrate 70 years at the College.

The OSS Academy is an executive development course for UK retailers and international brands. Its aim is to help them become better leaders and give them the confidence to realise their potential. It was launched in 1923 by the Drapers’ Chamber of Trade as they recognised a lack of industry specific management development and were concerned that talented retailers were being lost to other industries.

OSS Marketing Manager James Weavin says, “Attendance at the Academy programme is a unique experience for retailers and Keble College forms a key part of that. Delegates are often awestruck as they walk through the Porters’ Lodge and into Liddon Quad at the superb architecture and scale of the College. We are very proud of our long relationship with the prestigious university city and we look forward to the next 70 years at Keble College.”

Keble has established itself as one of the leading conference venues in Oxford, with conference revenue underpinning the continuing academic activity of the College.
