Rugby Success

Tuesday 01 May 2007

The 2006/2007 college rugby season has been comprehensively dominated by KCRFC, setting a precedent by winning both first division titles. The success spread into Cuppers and the comfortable victories over Wadham [34-10], Worcester [29-0] and New [32-15] set-up a mouth- watering final with rivals St. Edmund Hall at Iffley Road. The first-half was a tense affair in which Keble was able to utilise our technically and physically superior forward pack. This allowed Blues star Winston Cowie to touch down following a rolling maul from a successful line-out to leave the half-time score level at 8-8. A great display of tactical kicking from captain Pete Bolton gave Keble the attacking platform from which lightning speedster Tom Ainsworth scored following some intricate back-play. Despite Teddy Hall's valiant attempt at a come-back late in the half, Chris Sibley was able to secure the simplest of tries for Jack Wills to leave the final score 26-15. The unparalleled success of KCRFC this season has been a product of the endeavour of the whole squad and the Cuppers victory a fitting end to a fantastic season.
