Entered College in Michaelmas Term, 1910. Classical Scholar. A member of the 1st Rugby Football XV, 1910 - 1911, 1912 - 1914; 1st Cricket XI, 1912 - 1913; Athletics Team; O.U. Authentics C.C. President of the Essay Club, 1912; Debating Society, 1912; J.C.R., 1913; XIII Club, 1913. A member of the University Contingent of the Officers' Training Corps. 1st Class. Mods., 1912; 2nd Lit. Hum., 1914; I.C.S. (37th), 1914.

Commenced service in August 1914. Second Lieutenant, 7th Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment, 1914; Lieutenant, 1914; Captain, 1915 serving in France and Belgium. Mentioned in Despatches, 1915 and 1916. Killed in action near Hohenzollern Redoubt, Loos, 19 March 1916.
