Entered College in Michaelmas Term, 1894. A member of the 1st Torpid (cox), 1896 - 1897; 1st VIII in Eights Week (cox), 1897 - 1898; Trial 1st VIII in Eights Week (cox), 1897. 3rd Class. Mods., 1896; 3rd History and B.A., 1898. Commenced service prior to the outbreak of the Great War; Second Lieutenant, 1st Battalion of the King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment), 1900, serving in the South African War; Lieutenant, 1901; Captain, 1910; Adjutant, 1914. Killed in action near Ypres during the night of 8/9 May 1915.
