Entered College in Michaelmas Term, 1910. Brother of Frederick William Matheson (1902). Took part in the Freshman's Rugger Trial, 1910; Freshman's Cricket Trial, 1911; 1st Rugby Football XV, 1910 - 1913. A member of the 1st Football Association XI, 1911 - 1912; 1st Cricket XI, 1912 - 1913. Sergeant in the Officer Training Corps. A member of the O.U. Authentics C.C., 1911. B.A., 1914. Assistant Master, Llandovery College.

Commenced service on 9 March 1917. Second Lieutenant, 5th Battalion, Rifle Brigade, 1917; served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders from Sept. 1917, attached to the 2nd Battalion. Killed in action during a raid near Warneton, 24 September 1917.
