Job Description

Applications from graduate students are invited for the post of Junior Dean.

This is a two-year appointment, commencing at the start of January 2020. There are three Junior Deans and a Sub-Dean appointed so that their terms of office overlap.  They assist the Dean (an Official Fellow of the college) and other college staff in maintaining security, order and the well-being of the college community in accordance with the college regulations.

Junior Deans help the Lodge staff in the event of fire and they deal with emergencies as and when they arise  They also provide pastoral support as an integral part of the college's welfare team.  In order to fulfil these responsibilities each Junior Dean must, when on duty remain within the University area, and at night (7pm-7am) be in communication with the Lodge.

There is a stipend of £2,153 p.a. Junior Deans are required to be resident in College and will receive single occupancy accommodation, free of charge, together with free meals and an entertainment allowance.  The Junior Dean must either be pursuing full-time postgraduate research, or be a graduate medical student, at the University of Oxford for the entire duration of their appointment.
