Dr Alisdair Rogers

Senior Tutor

Official Fellow

Welcome to my College home page. I became Senior Tutor in January 2013, but before that I was a Fellow by Special Election in Geography. Although my duties and responsibilities are now largely in administration, supporting and extending the work of the Fellows in realising the academic potential of undergraduates and graduates, I retain some links with Geography.

If you want to find out more about Geography at Keble and how to apply, go to our website.

I am chief editor of Global Networks, a scholarly journal on globalization and transnationalism. I also  completed a Dictionary of Human Geography for Oxford University Press with Noel Castree (U of Manchester) and Rob Kitchin (National University of Ireland, Maynooth). It was published in spring 2013.

Research Interests

My research interests were in Human Geography, especially social and cultural geography and the history and philosophy of geography; migration, mobilities and transnational communities; cities and city life; globalization and global networks. I catch up on these during the odd moment of spare time.

My main academic activity is editing Global Networks: a Journal of Transnational Affairs, which publishes social science research on globalization and transnationalism. It's published by Wiley, and has established itself as a leading journal across several disciplines.

Further back in time, there was a second edition of the 'Student's Companion to Geography' (with Heather Viles) and a textbook called 'Questioning Geography' edited by Noel Castree (Manchester), a former geography student at Keble, Doug Sherman (Texas A & M) and myself.

I have also worked with colleagues on issues of migration at the ESRC Centre for Migration, Policy and Society.
