Fellow and Tutor in Italian

Welcome

I teach Italian for Modern Languages students at Keble and Magdalen Colleges. I completed my undergraduate degree at the Università Statale di Milano, Laurea in Classics, with a thesis on Ammianus Marcellinus (1988). My PhD was in Comparative Literature at New York University, with a thesis on the imitation of classical lyric poetry in Renaissance Italy, France and England (1995). I was a lecturer at State University of Palermo (1999-2006), visiting Professor at Columbia University, New York (2000 and 2002), at NYU in Florence (2000-2005), at IULM, Feltre (2003 and 2004) and at Università Cattolica, Milan (2005). I obtained a Research Fellowship at the Italian Academy, Columbia University (Fall 2005).

In addition to my academic work, I write fiction and poetry; see also my personal website
