Reader in the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics


A warm welcome from Medicine and Physiology at Keble College. If you are interested in these subjects, Keble College is able to provide a comprehensive package of teaching and support from an enthusiastic and dedicated set of tutors with backgrounds in a wide variety of relevant subjects, including my own, metabolic biochemistry. This key subject straddles biochemistry and physiology, and has great relevance to a variety of common medical disorders. The metabolic diseases are now recognised as one of the major contributors to morbidity and mortality and hence they are attracting considerable research interest. It is therefore a core topic in several university undergraduate courses, including medicine. We aim to provide comprehensive teaching of metabolism and emphasise relevance and applicability to common medical disorders.

  • substrate utilisation and selection in health and disease
