The Revd Dr Chad Varah, CH

It is with great regret that we announce the death of (Edward) Chad Varah, founder of The Samaritans, born 12 November 1911, died 8 November 2007. He was an exhibitioner of Keble College (PPE, 1930), and was made an Honorary Fellow of the College in 1981. Chad Varah was also a Companion of Honour. It is understood that there is likely to be a memorial service at St Paul's Cathedral early in 2008.
