Emilie Capulet, MA, MMus, PhD, is an award-winning concert pianist, lecturer and musicologist.

Recipient of a Leverhulme Research Fellowship, Emilie is completing the first critical study and biography of the French-Corsican composer Henri Tomasi (1901-1971), bringing into focus the way networks, practices, migration, cultural histories, geographies and representations of identity in music and culture can help us offer a new and more nuanced perspective on history and creative practice. At the intersection of historical enquiry, musicology, performance practice, literature and transmedial cultural studies, her interdisciplinary research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and books edited by Routledge (UK), Brill (Holland), Bloomsbury Heritage (UK), Presses Universitaires de la Méditerranée (France), Universitätsverlag Winter – Heidelberg (Germany) and Musikproduktion Höflich (Germany).

A sought-after lecture-recitalist and chamber musician, Emilie has an active portfolio of international performances in the UK, Europe, Latin America, North America and Asia and has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, Radio Canada, France Musique, Radio Télévision Suisse, Bayern Klassik, and Nicaraguan television and radio. She has appeared live on Sky News as their classical music expert. Emilie has released several albums, including a critically acclaimed first recording of the complete piano music of Henri Tomasi on the Calliope label. Forthcoming recording projects include an album of music by the BAFTA-winning composer Simon Haw, MBE.

Emilie is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and is the BMus (Hons) Programme Leader at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. While touring Latin America, she received the ExpressArte award for her pedagogical and musical outreach work in Nicaragua.
