Fiona Deborah Clapton

Fiona Deborah Clapton (1986 BA Jurisprudence) died on 20 June 2022 aged 54 after brave battle with brain cancer.

She was educated at St Dunstan’s Abbey School Plymouth and came up to Keble to read Law in 1986. She was active on the JCR Committee and became JCR Secretary in 1987. After graduating in 1989, she attended Chester Law College for her Solicitors’ Finals during which year she met her future husband, Mike. She subsequently spent 6 months at the Sorbonne studying for a Certificate in French Language and Culture, before embarking on her Articles in March 1991 with City law firm Herbert Smith. She qualified as a transactional property lawyer in 1993 and stayed with the firm until her second maternity in 2000, following which he moved to the Wirral with her young family, and was a full time mum to her three young sons. Fiona later volunteered her time in the local primary school as a classroom assistant, and in 2015 joined Neston GP Surgery as a full time receptionist, later becoming head receptionist. Fiona enjoyed her years at Keble with gusto, forging many enduring friendships. She is survived by her husband Mike, sons James, Ed and Tom, her parents Keith and Ferne, and sisters Rachel and Penny.
