Kenneth Norman Miles
Kenneth Norman Miles (1950 BA French and German) died on 11 May 2023 aged 93.
Kenneth came up to Keble in 1950 to read French and German, having done 2 years National Service with the Dorset Regiment in Austria after leaving Malvern College.
After Oxford, Kenneth joined Unilever. He married Audrey Rhodes of Roundhay, Leeds in 1957 and they had 2 children, Nicholas and Caroline. They spent 5 years in Bombay with HindustanLever before returning to the UK in 1962. Kenneth remained with Unilever, subsequently joining Barker & Dobson and then Watneys where he was Marketing Director.
In the late 1970’s, Kenneth worked briefly for Food from Britain, promoting UK Food exports and then for 20 years was President of the ISBA, the body that represents brand owners and advertisers, working with governments and the Advertising Standards Authority.
Kenneth lived in Oxford, enjoying good health until the last. He loved to travel to ancient sites and enjoyed music, opera, theatre and art. Kenneth always saw the good in others and was adored by his five grandchildren.
