Eric Abbott was Dean of Westminster, Chaplain to King George VI and HM Queen Elizabeth II, and Warden of Keble from 1956–1960. A memorial trust founded in his name provides for an annual lecture on spirituality held in Westminster Abbey and Keble Chapel. Alumnus and Honorary Fellow, Lord (Andrew) Adonis will give the lecture on ‘Securing a Europe of peace, freedom and justice’.

Lord Adonis graduated in history from Keble in 1984 and is now an Honorary Fellow of the College. He is a member of the Labour party and held Ministerial posts under Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, becoming Secretary of State for Transport in 2009. He was Chair of the National Infrastructure Commission between 2015 and 2017. He is a passionate European and now chairs the European Movement UK.
