Harris Society Annual Lecture 2025: Mr Justice Foxton

The Harris Law Society is honoured to be hosting The Hon Mr Justice Foxton, a current judge on the Commercial Court, to deliver the Harris Society Annual Lecture 2025.

The title of the lecture is Careless Whispers and Sweet Little Lies: Establishing the Boundaries of Misstatement Claims. It will look at how, in the various contexts in which false statements cause a claimant loss, the law of tort approaches the issue of whether loss must be occasioned by the claimant acting on a false statement made by the defendant to the claimant, believing it to be true.

The lecture will be followed by a short Q&A session, and drinks, with an opportunity to meet with Mr Justice Foxton. The event is open to all members at the university and will be of particular interest to all students studying Contract or Tort.
