Poet Suzanna Fitzpatrick (1994 English) will be launching her recently published, full-length poetry collection Crippled (Red Squirrel Press) on Friday 14 November in the Crisp Hollamby Lecture Theatre, H B Allen Centre. Doors will open at 5:15pm for a 5:45pm start and the event will finish at 6:45pm.
The launch will feature readings from guest readers Tess Foley and Sarah Gibbons, followed by a Q&A and an opportunity to purchase a copy of Crippled (both cash or card accepted). The event is free and open for all who wish to attend with no sign-up required.

Suzanna Fitzpatrick is widely published in the UK and worldwide. She has been longlisted for the National Poetry Competition, shortlisted twice for the Bridport Prize, came second in the Café Writers and Buxton Competitions, won the Poetry Society Hamish Canham Prize, and won the Newcastle University Chancellor’s Prize two years running. She has just completed the Poetry School/Newcastle University MA in Writing Poetry. Her pamphlet, Fledglings, was published by Red Squirrel Press in 2016. Crippled is her first full collection.

Tess Foley’s poetry collections Chalet Between Thick Ears, What Sort of Bird are You? and Try to Find Me are published by Live Canon. She has performed her poetry across the UK and taught as a tutor of performance poetry and a leader of therapeutic poetry-writing groups. She is currently studying for a PhD at the University of Portsmouth. Tessa has been recognised in the Artemesia Arts and Bournemouth Writing Festival Competitions and has been featured in publications such as Agenda, Finished Creatures, Alchemy Spoon, Black Iris, and Crank Mag.

Sarah Gibbons is a poet and fiction writer based in London. Her poetry and fiction have been widely published, as well as placed in national and international competitions. She’s been longlisted for the National Poetry Competition, and her book I Go to the Devil won the 2024 Alastair Reid Pamphlet Prize at the Wigtown Book Festival. She co-founded and co-edits the magazine Black Iris with Lauren Thomas.
