What do we mean when we talk about terrorism? Why do some people embrace it? Can states be terrorists too? And is terrorism ever rational?

Join Honorary Fellows Professor Quassim Cassam (1979) and Professor Richard English (1982), who will discuss their new book, How to Think About Terrorism. The conversation will be chaired by Honorary Fellow Sir Jonathan Phillips, whose extensive work in Northern Ireland following the Good Friday Agreement focused on supporting and stabilising the peace process.

Bringing together insights from philosophy, history, and politics, this thought-provoking discussion will challenge conventional assumptions and offer fresh perspectives on a subject that continues to shape global events and public debate.

With thanks to Felix Álvarez-Garmón (1993) for kindly hosting this event.
