DPhil awarded Google Women Techmakers Scholarship

Computer Science DPhil student Klaudia Krawiecka has been awarded a 2019 Google Women Techmakers Scholarship – formerly the Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship – encouraging women to excel in computing and technology and become active leaders and role models in the field. Klaudia will receive a 7,000 EUR scholarship, and will attend the Google Scholarship Retreat in London.

Klaudia is a doctoral student at the Centre for Doctoral Training in Cyber Security and is also President of Oxford Women in Computer Science Society (OxWoCS). In 2017, she was awarded a prize for the best information security thesis in Finland for her work on SafeKeeper, a programme addressing the challenge of protecting users’ passwords and other types of sensitive web server data. Klaudia’s current research focuses on authenticating the Internet of Things devices using out-of-band channels such as visual channels (e.g. Augmented Reality).
