Jonathan and Amanda Phillips Awards 2025

We are pleased to announce the winners of the 2025 Jonathan and Amanda Phillips Awards, celebrating students who have gone above and beyond for the College community.

The awards recognise outstanding contributions in areas such as access and outreach, charity, environment, equality and diversity, leadership, services to the JCR, MCR, sports and societies. Open to both undergraduates and graduates, the awards are based on nominations from staff and students each Trinity Term. This year, six students were honoured, each receiving £250. The judging panel included College staff, Fellows and student representatives.

Laura Haas (2021 DPhil Criminology) — Laura has been recognised by the graduate community, not just for the stellar job she did as MCR President last year, but also for her continued contribution to life in the MCR as Welfare Officer (for example, organising a women-only session in the gym).

Jafar Bin-Faisal (2023 History) — Jafar received an award for his amazing work with the Keble Access Society and for his part in organising arrangements between the College and the Islamic Society for the observance of Ramadan.

Kira Mulcahy (2023 DPhil Inorganic Chemistry) — The MCR has really valued Kira’s work as Arts and Culture Officer, including organising the first MCR show for Arts Week.

Jonathan Tanner (2021 DPhil Computer Science) — Over the past seven years, Jonathan has been central to Chapel life, especially in his work with audio-visual equipment and live-streaming events.

Niamh Walker (2021 Biomed Neuroscience) — Niamh was President of KCBC this year and has done outstanding work in developing women’s rowing, including the successful W2 eight, and designing the new kit.

Jessie D’Urso (2022 Biology) — Jessie was awarded in recognition of her outstanding work as one of the most active and enthusiastic student ambassadors and as JCR Welfare Officer.
