Keble achieve headship in Summer VIIIs for the first time since 1977

This year’s Summer VIIIs saw Keble College advance to Head of the River in the men’s division for the first time since 1977. M1 started second after a strong bumps campaign in 2017. The crew bumped favourites and former Head Christ Church on Wednesday, and then held their position against an approaching Oriel crew, who had bumped Christ Church on Thursday to move into second position. Despite Oriel’s best efforts, Keble were too strong and rowed over in style on Friday and Saturday afternoon to secure the Headship.

Keble supporters, including students, staff and alumni, came out in droves to cheer on the six Keble crews on the river over the four days of racing. M2, M3 and W2 all advanced up the ranking, while W1 only conceded one place to a blues-filled Wolfson crew on the first day, still leaving them in a strong sixth position ready for next year.
