Keble gains Fairtrade and Green awards
Keble College has been awarded the new Fairtrade University and College Award, which was recently developed in conjunction with the Fairtrade Foundation and National Union of Students.
The new standards are more far reaching than the previous award, and provide a wider range of ways for the institution to engage with Fairtrade and ethical consumption. Keble College is one of six colleges to participate, along with the University as a whole. Domestic Bursar, Nicholas French, said “we are very proud to be one of the first colleges to achieve this and we hope that it will encourage others to follow suit. It has been a real team effort, involving Keble students (notably Geographer Sofia Karlsson) and the College Domestic team, and I would like to thank them as a whole for all of their help.”
The College has also recently been awarded the National Union of Students Switch Off Gold Award, and consistently comes out on top of colleges in recycling figures, with Keble currently recycling 69% of its waste.
