Keble Student Shortlisted for Oxford-BNU Creative Writing Award

Congratulations to Hannah Eggleton (2024 MSt Creative Writing) on being shortlisted for the 2026 Oxford-BNU Creative Writing Award.

The Oxford-BNU Creative Writing Award was founded in 2019 by Nobel Laureate Professor Mo Yan to celebrate exceptional emerging literary talent from across the University.

Hannah’s compelling short story, The Three Kings of Trinity Hill, explores themes of community, childhood and “the small tragedy that is growing up”. She explains that the piece “tells the story of three sisters, growing up in Northern Ireland. When their Christmas nativity is plunged into crisis, the girls find themselves at the centre of a last-minute cast shuffle. But who will step up and play a camel?”

In response to the announcement, Hannah said “I’m very honoured to be shortlisted for the Oxford-BNU Creative Writing Award. It’s always a very vulnerable feeling, submitting your work for competitions, and I’m delighted to be included in such a fantastic line up.”

This year’s winner will be announced at the newly opened Schwarzman Centre for Humanities on 14 May 2026. More information about the award can be found on the TORCH website.
