Professor Gui-Qiang Chen appointed Fellow of Academy for Mathematical Sciences

Our congratulations to Keble Professorial Fellow Gui-Qiang Chen, who is among the first cohort of fellows appointed to the newly-established Academy for the Mathematical Sciences.

Professor Chen is Statutory Professor of Analysis of Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) at the Mathematical Institute, with his main research areas lying in PDEs, nonlinear analysis, and their connections/applications to mechanics, geometry, and other areas of mathematics and science. He is Director of the Oxford Centre for Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations (OxPDE).

The Academy for the Mathematical Sciences, launched in 2023, brings together leading mathematicians from academia, education, industry and government to shape national priorities in areas such as education, responsible AI, climate science, and the UK’s research and innovation landscape. As one of the 100 inaugural fellows, Professor Chen joins a group recognised for exceptional contributions to mathematical science and its real-world impact.

More information about the appointments is available on the Academy website.
