Sir Anthony O’Reilly (1936-2024)

We are sorry to announce that Keble Honorary Fellow Sir Anthony O’Reilly has died aged 88 after a short illness.

Initially gaining recognition as an international Irish Rugby player, Anthony eventually established himself as one of Ireland’s leading business figures. Although not an alumnus of Keble, he was drawn to the College through the connection of his alma mater, UCD, with theologian and Tractarian leader John Henry Newman. Anthony’s generous donation to Keble contributed significantly to the construction in the early 2000s of the Sloane Robinson Building in Newman Quad. The Keble O’Reilly Theatre is named after him.

We hope to publish a fuller obituary soon.
