Sir Larry Siedentop (1936–2024)
The College is very sorry to announce the death of Honorary Fellow Sir Larry Siedentop (1936–2024).
Born in the US, Sir Larry received his BA from Hope College, and then his MA from Harvard, before coming to Oxford in 1960 as a Marshall Scholar, where he completed a DPhil at Magdalen College under the supervision of Sir Isaiah Berlin.
After spending time at Nuffield College and the University of Sussex, Sir Larry became Fellow and Tutor at Keble in 1973, where he was central to PPE and Politics for three decades until his retirement and election to an Emeritus Fellowship in 2003.
He was the author of many influential books on political thought, most notably Democracy in Europe (Penguin, 2000).
Sir Larry was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2004, and then received his knighthood in 2016 for services to political science. Keble College elected him to an Honorary Fellowship in 2020.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral Arrangements:
The Funeral for Sir Larry will be held on 4 July at 4pm at Golders Green Crematorium, London (NW11).
There will be a drinks reception afterwards. Please email sirlarryfuneral@gmail.com if you plan on attending.
A Memorial Service will be held at Keble College later in the year; date and time to be confirmed.
