Sir Larry Siedentop

The College is very sorry to announce the death of Honorary Fellow Sir Larry Siedentop (1936–2024).

After spending time at Nuffield College and the University of Sussex, Sir Larry became Fellow and Tutor at Keble in 1973, where he was central to PPE and Politics for three decades until his retirement and election to an Emeritus Fellowship in 2003.

He was the author of many influential books on political thought, most notably Democracy in Europe (Penguin, 2000).

Sir Larry was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2004, and then received his knighthood in 2016 for services to political science. Keble College elected him to an Honorary Fellowship in 2020.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
