Student Outreach during the pandemic

Keble at Large shines a guiding light for prospective applicants with the launch of its blog featuring Subject Guides written by current students.

Keble at Large (KAL) is the college’s student-led Outreach Society. Dedicated to myth-busting and truth-spreading, the society is built up of engaged, socially conscientious, Keblites who really want to make a difference to the way Oxford is perceived.

On a day-to-day basis, this usually means giving tours to students from target schools up and down the country, primarily from our Regional Outreach linked schools in the West Midlands. These tours and interactions with current students are vital for pupils who often lack expertise and support from school throughout their Oxbridge applications.

In 2020/21 things have been a bit different. KAL, has adapted its activity to a number of online initiatives and significantly increased its presence on social media in order to continue its important mission to support prospective applicants.

The new blog is a place where prospective applicants can learn more about Keble and Oxford University. Each Subject Guide provides a window into the life of a current Keble student in their own words. Subject Guides already ‘live’ include Engineering, Computer Science, English, Modern Languages, Maths, Maths & Computer Science, Geography, Theology & Religion, Medicine – with more to follow.

Late last year, KAL also successfully launched a YouTube channel with current Keble students giving insight into their own interview experience and offering advice for those having interviews in the latest round of admissions (Dec 2020). The videos will be an invaluable resource for interviewees for years to come.

You can find further information, updates, and much more (including links to other KAL social media activity on Facebook, Instagram and even TikTok!) on the Keble at Large website.
