Teaching Excellence Awards for Keble Academics

We are delighted to announce that Dr Martin Gillies and Professor Robert Klose have been recognised in the 2025 Teaching Excellence Awards scheme, both receiving Excellent Teacher Awards.

The Excellent Teacher Awards honour individuals who have demonstrated sustained excellence in teaching and in supporting students’ learning and research skills across the Collegiate University and the NHS.

An alumnus of Keble, Dr Martin Gillies (1997 Physiological Sciences) is a non-stipendiary College Lecturer in Anatomy and is also a Senior Research Fellow and Lecturer at the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences. His research interests are in human brain electrophysiology and high-intensity focused ultrasound.

Professor Robert Klose is a Professorial Fellow in Genetics at Keble and Professor at the Department of Biochemistry, where he teaches. His work explores how certain poorly understood DNA features govern gene expression and how this can be leveraged in the treatment of cancer and other human diseases.

A full list of this year’s Teaching Excellence Awards recipients can be found here. We warmly congratulate both Dr Gillies and Professor Klose on this well-earned recognition.
