Alexandre Cazé is the French lecteur at Magdalen and Keble in 2025-2026, a position he previously held in 2023-2024.

He has studied at the École normale supérieure (rue d’Ulm), Sorbonne Université, and the Conservatoire de Paris. He took the “agrégation d’anglais” in 2025. He has degrees (master’s) in English linguistics and musical analysis, and is envisaging a PhD in English and French sociolinguistics. His research has been on irony in works by Oscar Wilde and Laurence Sterne, Anglicisms and Gallicisms, and the prosody of Francis Poulenc’s operas. He is also a keen pianist, accompanist and singer.
