The most frequently asked questions about accommodation at Keble are available below.

Undergraduate FAQs

What are the arrival and departure dates for accommodation?

Arrival for Michaelmas term – from 9:00am on Sunday 1st – 6:00pm Wednesday 4th October 2023 (all students must be in house by 6:00pm on Wednesday).

 

Departure for Christmas vacation – by 6:00pm on Saturday 2nd December 2023.

 

Arrival for Hilary term – 9:00am on Sunday 7th – 6:00pm Wednesday 10th January 2024 (all students must be in house by 6:00pm on Wednesday).

 

Departure for Easter vacation – by 6:00pm on Saturday 9th March 2024.

 

Arrival for Trinity term – 9:00am on Sunday 14th – 6:00pm on Wednesday 17th April 2024 (all students must be in house by 6:00pm on Wednesday).

 

Departure for summer vacation – by 6:00pm on Saturday 15th June 2024.

Where will my accommodation be? 

We aim to house all freshers, second and third year undergraduates at the Parks Road site.

 

Freshers are allocated to the Hayward and de Breyne buildings, Sloane Robinson and Pusey quad.

 

Second years select rooms in the Liddon and Pusey quads.

 

Third years select rooms in the Arco building. In recent years, we have had larger year groups resulting in some third years living at H B Allen.

Who should I contact if I need to get in touch with Housekeeping, Maintenance or IT?

For any emergencies, please call the Lodge on 01865 272727. For all other enquiries, please complete the Maintenance Form.

Do I need to complete an inventory of my room when I arrive? 

Yes, the link to this form will be sent to you during 0th week of Michaelmas term.

Can I bring a TV? 

Yes, but make sure you obtain a license for it. 

Is there a fridge in my bedroom? 

If you live in Hayward, de Breyne, Liddon, Pusey or Sloane Robinson, you will have a small fridge in your bedroom.

 

Rooms in Arco are not equipped with a fridge as these rooms have access to a kitchen.

Will my bedroom be cleaned? 

Bedrooms will be cleaned once a week during term. This will include but not limited to vacuuming, dusting, cleaning bathrooms and emptying bins. Please keep your bedroom tidy between visits.

 

Cleaning of shared kitchens, common areas and shared bathrooms will be carried out daily (Mon – Fri).

When do I need to pay my accommodation charges? 

You will be sent an invoice by the Battels team for payment by the Friday of 1st week of each term.

How do I contact the Battels team? 

Can I have my mail/parcels delivered to college?

Yes, please refer to section D.9.1 in the Student Handbook for full details.

Can I have a guest in my bedroom? 

Yes, you can have a guest/visitor for a maximum of 3 nights. You should email the Lodge with the guests name. 

Can I reserve a Fellows guest room? 

Yes, Junior members can reserve one of these rooms, subject to availability, no more than 3 weeks in advance. You should email the Accommodation Team to enquire.

Can I stay in college over the vacation? 

Please refer to section D.14.3 in the Student Handbook for full information. The Accommodation Team will send out an application form in week 4 of term. The outcome of your application will be decided by the Committee and communicated to you by the Accommodation Team in week 6 of term. 

Can I store my belongings in college during vacation? 

No, the college does not have storage space. We do have a list of local storage companies that we can provide. Please contact the Accommodation Team

Can I bring a bicycle to college? 

Yes. On arrival, please register the bicycle with the Lodge. Please visit section D.17 of the student handbook for more information. 

Can I bring any appliances to college? 

A full list of appliances that you can bring is sent to you in your arrival information. If you have an item that is not on this list, you will need authorisation from the Head of Rooms Division, Oana Darac-Pelea. Please email oana.darac-pelea@keble.ox.ac.uk

Can I bring my own furniture? 

You should not bring your own furniture. Your bedroom is equipped with a bed, wardrobe, desk, desk chair and access to a bathroom. If you have any questions about other items, they should be directed to the Head of Rooms Division, Oana Darac-Pelea (oana.darac-pelea@keble.ox.ac.uk) before you purchase anything.  

What should I do if I have lost my bedroom key? 

Please contact the Lodge and they will get a new copy cut. You will be charged for the cost of replacement to your battels.

Is someone available at the Lodge 24 hours a day? 

Yes, the Lodge has a member of staff or security 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Graduate FAQs

What are the licence terms?

Rooms are available to graduate students on either a 9-month (1st October – 30th June) or a 51-week (1st October – 23rd September) licence agreement. We cannot guarantee that accommodation will be available before 1st October for the new academic year. If you select a 9-month licence agreement, it may be possible to extend your agreement up until 23rd September, subject to availability and provided sufficient notice is given.

Where will my accommodation be?

Graduate students who receive accommodation will be allocated to the H B Allen Centre – 25 Banbury Road, Oxford, OX2 6NN.

What are the facilities in my room?

Studio rooms
Room measurements:
The Studio – 160ft2
Kitchenette within the studio – 11ft2
Bathroom – 23ft2
These are approximate measurements as all rooms are a different shape and size.

 

These rooms are equipped with:
• UK small double bed
• Ensuite bathroom
• Bedside table
• Desk with chair
• Shelving above the desk
• Under bed storage
• Bench seating with storage
• Kitchenette to include – 2-ring hob, undercounter fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, kettle, bins, crockery, cutlery and cleaning materials.

 

Flats – bedrooms with access to a shared kitchen
Room measurements:
Bedroom – 160ft2
Bathroom – 23ft2
Kitchens sizes are dependent on how many students have access to it
These are approximate sizes as all rooms are a different shape and size.

 

The bedroom is equipped with:
• UK small double bed
• Ensuite bathroom
• Bedside table
• Desk with chair
• Shelving above the desk
• Under bed storage
• Bench seating with storage
• The shared kitchen has the following facilities – oven, induction hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge freezer, George Foreman grill, rice cooker, bins, crockery, cutlery and cleaning materials.

If I have a kitchenette, do I have use of any other kitchen?

No.

Every Wednesday between 10am – 12 noon.

Will my bedroom be cleaned

Students are responsible for cleaning their own bedrooms.

 

Your bathroom will be cleaned once a fortnight by the Housekeeping staff.

 

Students in studio rooms are responsible for cleaning their own kitchenettes and cleaning materials are provided.

 

Cleaning of shared kitchens/dining spaces will be carried out once a week by the Housekeeping staff. Cleaning materials are provided for students to clean between visits.
