Peter is a Lecturer in Ancient History at Keble College.
Peter is Director of Studies in Classical Archaeology and Ancient History at Keble College and organises teaching in Greek and Roman history for students reading Ancient & Modern History. He teaches a range of papers in Greek history, Archaeology and ancient Greek across the Archaic and Classical Periods.
His research interests are twofold, comprising firstly, the emergence of alphabetic Greek writing in a Mediterranean context, and secondly, the transition from bronze to iron in Greece in the first half of the first millennium B.C.
He is also Director of the Practical Epigraphy Workshop (a training course in how to study inscriptions which attracts an international field of applicants). Outside academia, he is a vice president of Ranelagh Harriers.
